dichroic jewelry

Many years ago, when I was a Gold and Silversmith, I specialized in custom work: wedding bands was a speciality. It was interesting, but a "hobby is a whole lot of work you wouldn't want to do for a living." Color is really my passion.  Moving into Stained & Fused Glass, as well as Watercolors, was a natural progression for me.  Working with layering colors, I strive to create luminous and elegant pieces of Fused Glass Jewelry and paintings from the heart and soul.

Dichroic glass is the term used to describe a type of glass which undergo a color change in certain lighting conditions. One material is a modern composite non-translucent glass that is produced by stacking layers of glass and micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass shifting colors depending on the angle of view, causing an array of colors to be displayed and is now used for  decorative purposes such as  jewelry, stained glass.  It was originally created to use in the Space Program for insulating and creating heat proof glass.

Dichroic Glass is vibrant and radiates a rainbow of colors!  In sunshine it is especially vibrant.
